Psalm 119:141 (137-144) “I am small and despised, yet I do not forget Your precepts.”
How’s your testimony?
In this Psalm the writer realizes that no matter how hard he tries friends, family and enemies aren’t getting it. They don’t seem to hear or see his testimony. And, although he’s consumed by his relationship with God, to others it’s like he’s not having any effect, he’s too small a witness.
It’s a simple mistake to make, thinking that our job is to win over everyone we know. But that is not our job. We’re to be witnesses, the Holy Spirit and Jesus does the saving work, we’re just instruments (the net, the hook). See, the answer to the question, how many drops of water does it take to over flow a glass of water is one. You might be that last drop.
Without your contribution the glass will never over flow. Our desire to see our friends, family and even enemies saved is commendable and necessary to keep us witnessing, but it is no guarantee of salvation. Yet, our testimony (the way we live out our salvation in words and actions) has value in eternity.
Determination involves directing all our energies to complete the mission we’ve been assigned.
Today is Sunday, may I suggest that you take some time to review this past week and ask:
- Did you add to your faith (mature, grow)
- What did you learn?
- Did you encourage anyone?
- Did you serve anyone?
- Did you share your faith with anyone?
- Did you give?
- Did you fellowship?
- Did you rest?
