1 Corinthians 15:51 (51-58) “Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we all be changed,”
What do you know?
When Paul talks about a mystery he is not talking about something that needs a secret code or ritual to solve. A mystery is something unknown to someone. Now in the verses 15:35-50 Paul has already told us that believers will all be changed. So, that is no longer an unknown, we will all be transformed. The mystery is that we will not all have to die to be transformed. In 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 Paul had told the church there the same thing.
This transformation Paul calls a putting on, 15:53-54. I found that to be significant because it means I stay the same person I have always been. I don’t become someone else, because then what would the point be.
The Lord loves me just as I am. He doesn’t want to make me into something or someone else, He wants me to be the person I could have been if it wasn’t for sin. Death, through sin, will no longer have any effect over us (but it will over the nonbeliever).
This means that this world will one day end and we will continue becoming more of what God originally intended.
Responsibility involves learning to establish personal disciplines to help you become the person God wants you to be.
