Deuteronomy 31:10 (1-13) “At the end of every seven years,”

How often do you reevaluate?

Every seven years it would be the responsibility of the Levites (the spiritual leaders of the people) to review the commands of God (the basic principles of living for the Jews) so they would remember who they were.

They were to come together wherever they were and listen, evaluate their circumstances and make corrections so they would be in compliance with God’s expressed will. At the same time they could get clarification for their own unique situations.

My purpose for these emails, I hope, has been the same as the responsibility of the Levites. That is to have you hear and learn and fear the Lord your God. It is the responsibility of every one of us who have come to know Christ. In our homes and at worship we are to read aloud, teach and admonish from the words of this law.

May I suggest that you fail not to spend quality time with the Lord your God, daily!

Deuteronomio 31:10 (1-13) “Al fin de cada siete años,”

¿Con qué frecuencia reevalúas?

Cada siete años sería la responsabilidad de los levitas (los líderes espirituales del pueblo) para revisar los mandamientos de Dios (los principios básicos de la vida de los Judíos) para recordar quienes eran.

Debían reunirse dondequiera que estuvieran y escuchar, evaluar sus circunstancias y hacer correcciones para que estuvieran de acuerdo con la expresada voluntad de Dios. Al mismo tiempo que podían obtener una aclaración por sus propias situaciones únicas.

Mi propósito para este tipo de mensajes, espero, ha sido la misma que la responsabilidad de los levitas. Eso es para escuchar, aprender y teme al Señor tu Dios. Es la responsabilidad de cada uno de nosotros que hemos llegado a conocer a Cristo. En nuestros hogares y en la adoración hemos de leer en voz alta, enseñar y amonestar de las palabras de esta ley.

¡Puedo sugerir que no faltas en pasar tiempo de calidad con el Señor, tu Dios, todos los días!

Deuteronomy 31:6 (1-8) “Be strong and courageous,”

What is your purpose?

What Israel had not gotten through their thick skulls is what has not gotten through ours. That God wants us to focus our attention on our inner development. That we may take on His character. It is as we do this that He will in turn fight our battles for us. And though the enemy be fierce, they cannot stand before their Creator.

Only those who have taken on His character can face the Lord. Because we face Him with our heads bowed in recognition of our position before Him as that which He has created.

It is interesting to see how many times God through Moses will tell the people and Joshua to be strong and courageous. I don’t think it’s as much physical strength that God is demanding, as it is a determination to do what God has said. Both these demands are qualities of character that God wants to see in His servants before He is eager to pave their way.

We need to be strong and courageous when we apply God’s principles of living. Because we will meet resistance and they can be scary. It is in those moments that you will need to be strong and courageous. 

Don’t allow yourself to be ruled (controlled) by your circumstances, instead rule your circumstances. Remember who you are and the resources you have available to you, prayer and what you already know about the Bible. 

Be strong and courageous!

Courage involves taking a stand on the word of God in spite of the opposition.

Deuteronomio 31:6 (1-8) “Sed firmes y valientes,”

¿Cual es tu propósito?

Lo que Israel no había conseguido a través de sus cráneos gruesos es lo que no ha penetrado la nuestra. Que Dios quiere enfocar nuestra atención en nuestro desarrollo interior. Que podamos asumir Su carácter. Es al hacer esto que Él, a su vez pelear nuestras batallas por nosotros. Y aunque el enemigo sea feroz, no podrán hacer frente a su Creador.

Sólo aquellos que han tomado Su carácter puede enfrentar el Señor. Porque nosotros lo enfrentamos con nuestras cabezas inclinadas en reconocimiento de nuestra posición delante de Él como lo que Él ha creado.

Es interesante ver cómo muchas veces Dios a través de Moisés le dirá a la gente y Josué que sean fuerte y valiente. Yo no creo que es tanto fuerza física que Dios exige que es una determinación para hacer lo que Dios ha dicho. Ambas demandas son cualidades de carácter que Dios quiere ver en sus siervos antes de que Él está dispuesto a abrir su camino.

Tenemos que ser fuertes y valientes cuando aplicamos los principios de la vida de Dios. Porque vamos a enfrentar resistencia y pueden producir miedo. Es en esos momentos que usted necesita  ser fuerte y valiente.

No permita ser gobernaron (controlada) por sus circunstancias, en ves gobierna sus circunstancias. Recuerde quien eres  y los recursos que tienen a su disposición, la oración y lo que ya sabes acerca de la Biblia.

Sé fuerte y valiente!

Valentía consiste en tomar una posición sobre la palabra de Dios a pesar de la oposición.

Deuteronomy 30:19 (15-20) “So choose life…”

What do you base your decisions on?

And with that request, that warning, that command Israel was given a clear explanation as to what the nature of life is. That is that as God designed it, life, works a certain way, 30:15. Not just any way, any man chooses.

Likewise for today we are constantly faced with choices, decisions we need to make about all sorts of things. We tend to make those decisions based on our own experiences. We think those experiences have revealed the principals of living for us.

Eventually Israel would be described in the book of Judges as men doing what was right in their own eyes and life had fallen apart, Judges 17:6. Is this a description of you? It is just that simple. Choosing to follow God’s principals of living, His commands will guarantee success in your mission here, Matthew 28:18-20. Or will we choose death?

Deuteronomio 30:19 (15-20) “Escoge, pues, la vida…”

¿En qué basas sus decisiones?

Y con esa petición, esa advertencia, ese mandamiento a Israel se le dio una explicación clara de que la naturaleza de la vida es. Es decir que, como Dios lo diseñó, la vida, trabaja de una manera determinada, 30:15. No cualquier manera, que cualquier hombre elige.

De la misma manera hoy nos enfrentamos constantemente con opciones, las decisiones que tenemos que hacer sobre todo tipo de cosas. Tendemos a tomar esas decisiones sobre la base de nuestras propias experiencias. Creemos que esas experiencias han revelado los principios de vida para nosotros.

Finalmente Israel sería descrito en el libro de los Jueces que los hombres hacían lo recto ante sus propios ojos y la vida se había derrumbado, Jueces 17:6. ¿Es esta una descripción de ti? Es así de sencillo. Decidiendo seguir los principios de la vida de Dios, sus mandamientos garantizarán el éxito en su misión aquí, Mateo 28:18-20. ¿O vamos a elegir la muerte?

Deuteronomy 30:11 (1-14) “For this commandment which I command you today is not too difficult for you, nor is it out of reach.”

What are you waiting for?

I know a woman who grew up in a good church to good, believing parents. But, when she was young she ran off with a non-believer and they had children and then the marriage fell apart.

One day as she was at work and struggling in her spirit with her life; she remembered a verse of scripture that lead her to repent, seek forgiveness from God and return to the church she had left. She moved in with her parents who were waiting for her, got a better job and was able to enroll her kids at the churches Elementary school.

All Israel had to do was trust God’s word. That He would deliver on His promises. So many times we find ourselves in that place where we know, but we haven’t trusted. We haven’t exercised faith. God is waiting.

Deuteronomio 30:11 (1-14) “Este mandamiento que yo te ordeno hoy no es muy difícil para ti, ni está fuera de tu alcance.”

¿Que estas esperando?

Conozco a una mujer criada en una buena iglesia a buenos, padres creyentes. Pero, cuando era joven se huyó con un no creyente y tuvieron hijos y luego el matrimonio se vino fallo.

Un día, mientras estaba en el trabajo y luchando en su espíritu con su vida; recordó un verso de la Biblia que la llevó a arrepentirse, buscar el perdón de Dios y volver a la iglesia que había dejado. Volvió a vivir con sus padres que estaban esperando por ella, consiguió un trabajo mejor y fue capaz de inscribir a sus hijas en la escuela primaria de la misma iglesias.

Todo lo que Israel tenía que hacer era confiar en la palabra de Dios. Que Él cumpliría Sus promesas. Muchas veces nos encontramos en ese lugar donde sabemos, pero no hemos confiado. No hemos ejercido fe. Dios está esperando.

Deuteronomy 29:22 (14-29) “Now the generation to come, your sons who rise up after you and the foreigner who comes from a distant land,”

How secure are you?

Talk about social security! So, God not only promises the present group of Israel but their children and friends the blessings, 29:14-15. The word blessing, in this instance, implies that the obedient would be better off than the disobedient. And see that means that not obeying would leave you worse off or cursed. It’s really not that complicated.

And here God extends the promise of both to the future of the people. Making Israel’s future as God’s people secure. And then making being better off or worse off conditional on their adherence to or lack of adherence to God’s rules for living.

Any people today that would claim allegiance to the God of Abraham must understand all of the above and not anymore, 29:29. God is a God of order. He will not tolerate anarchy. And to secure our future on this earth neither should we.

Courage involves taking a stand on the word of God in spite of the opposition.

Deuteronomio 29:29 “Las cosas secretas pertenecen al Señor nuestro Dios, mas las cosas reveladas nos pertenecen a nosotros y a nuestros hijos para siempre, a fin de que guardemos todas las palabras de esta ley.”

¿Que sabes?

Somos responsables por lo que sabemos. Como Israel era responsable por lo que Dios había revelado a ellos; así también, hoy en día, somos responsables de lo que Dios nos ha revelado. Para Israel era sólo los 5 libros fundacionales, pero para nosotros es los 66 volúmenes que abarcan lo que hoy llamamos la Biblia.

Pablo nos dijo que no meterse en cosas que no sabemos y ceñirnos a lo que sabemos (1 Timoteo 6:3-5, 20-21). Debido a que algunas personas se pierden en preguntas que no tienen respuestas como, cuántos ángeles puede caber en la cabeza de un alfiler … ¿a quién le importa? O, puede Dios crear una montaña tan grande que no puede levantarla … ¿por qué lo haría?

Por supuesto ceñirnos a lo que sabemos asume que sabemos algo. Me refiero a Su Ley, Su Palabra. Recuerde que Jesús redujo toda la Ley en dos principios básicos, Mateo 22:37-40. ¿Te acuerdas cuales son? Ciñese a ellos.

Deuteronomio 29:22 (14-29) “Y la generación venidera, vuestros hijos que se levanten después de vosotros y el extranjero que venga de tierra lejana,”

¿Qué tan seguro está?

Hable acerca de la seguridad social! Por lo tanto, Dios no sólo promete el grupo actual de Israel, pero sus hijos y amigos de las bendiciones, 29:14-15. La palabra bendición, en este caso, implica que los obedientes sería mejor que los desobedientes. Y ver que eso significa que no obedecer le dejará en peor situación o maldecido. En realidad no es tan complicado.

Y aquí Dios se extiende la promesa de ambos para el futuro de las personas. Haciendo el futuro de Israel como pueblo de Dios seguras. Y entonces lo que sea mejor o peor la condición de su adhesión o falta de adhesión a las reglas de Dios para la vida.

Cualquier persona hoy en día que reclamar lealtad al Dios de Abraham deben entender todo lo anterior y ya no, 29:29. Dios es un Dios de orden. Él no va a tolerar la anarquía. Y para asegurar nuestro futuro en esta tierra tampoco debemos hacerlo nosotros.

Deuteronomy 29:13 (10-13) “in order that He may establish you today as His people and that He may be your God,”

Who is your God?

What was it that Israel had to do to be established as the people of God? That is the people for which He had already liberated from Egypt with such power. The God who parted the Red Sea so they could cross and then closed on their enemies so they could continue in peace, the God who fed them in the wilderness and kept their shoes and clothing from wearing out for forty years, the God who protected them from their enemies on the way and gave them victory over them as well.

And, what did they have to do? OBEY!

In this instance obey means more than to just follow the rules. It meant to trust that God with every area of their lives. Obedience requires a certain amount of trust, faith. It is that same God who, through His Son, is asking us today to follow Him.

So, why don’t I let Him establish me as His and let Him be my God? Why don’t you let Him establish you as His and let Him be your God? And, why don’t we let Him establish us as His and let Him be our God. Amen?

Deuteronomio 29:13 (1-13) “a fin de establecerte hoy como su pueblo y que El sea tu Dios,”

¿Quién es tu Dios?

¿Qué fue lo que Israel tenía que hacer para ser establecido como el pueblo de Dios? Eso es el pueblo por el cual ya había liberado de Egipto con tal poder. El Dios que abrió el Mar Rojo para que pudieran cruzar y luego cerró sobre sus enemigos para que pudieran seguir en paz, el Dios que los alimentó en el desierto y mantuvo sus zapatos y ropa durante cuarenta años, el Dios que los protegía de sus enemigos en el camino y les dio la victoria sobre ellos.

Y, ¿qué tienen que hacer? ¡OBEDECER!

En este caso obedece significa más que simplemente seguir las reglas. Significaba confiar en es Dios con todas las áreas de sus vidas. La obediencia requiere cierta cantidad de confianza, fe. Es el mismo Dios que, a través de Su Hijo, nos está pidiendo hoy a seguirle.

Así que, ¿por qué no dejar que me establezca como de Él y sea mi Dios? ¿Por qué no dejar que te establecer como de Él y él sea vuestro Dios? Y, ¿por qué no dejamos que Él nos establece como de Él y él sea nuestro Dios. ¿Amén?

Deuteronomy 29:4 (1-9) “Yet to this day the Lord has not given you a heart to know, nor eyes to see, nor ears to hear.”
What is your motivation?
All that time that Israel was in Egypt and the wilderness, they did not know, could not see, could not hear what? The answer is in 29:5, that “I have led you…”
They had apparently not heard that they were God’s people on the earth. That made them His representatives. Maybe for that reason they were always thinking of themselves and not the reason why God had called them out in the first place.
God used them as an example for us today. God had spoken to them through the prophet, Moses. But because they had not come to God looking for direction for their lives as individuals as well as a group, God didn’t let them hear.
The question for us, is what is our motivation for following God? Are we focused on our own personal a family needs? Or, can we see the potential our lives have for eternity as witnesses of His love for all?
Obedience involves recognizing and accepting God’s right to tell me what to do.

Deuteronomio 29:4 (1-9) “Pero hasta el día de hoy el SEÑOR no os ha dado corazón para entender, ni ojos para ver, ni oídos para oír.”
¿Cuál es su motivación?
Todo ese tiempo que Israel estaba en Egipto y en el desierto, ellos no sabían, no podía ver, no podía oír que? La respuesta está en 29:5, que “Yo os he traído …”
Al parecer, no habían oído de que eran el pueblo de Dios en la tierra. Eso los hizo Sus representantes. Tal vez, por esa razón, que siempre estaban pensando en sí mismos y no la razón por la que Dios los había llamado en el primer lugar.
Dios los utiliza como ejemplo para nosotros hoy. Dios les había hablado a través del profeta Moisés. Pero debido a que no habían llegado a Dios en busca de dirección para sus vidas como individuos y como grupo, Dios no permitió que ellos oyesen.
La pregunta para nosotros, es cual es nuestra motivación para seguir a Dios? ¿Nos enfocamos en nuestras propias necesidades personales? O bien, podemos ver el potencial que nuestras vidas tienen para la eternidad como testigos de Su amor para todos?
Obediencia implica reconocer y aceptar el derecho de Dios para decirme qué hacer.

Deuteronomy 28:15 (15-68) “But it shall come about, if you do not obey the Lord your God, to observe to do all His commandments and His statutes with which I charge you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you:”

What is your priority?

There are more than 40 curses referred to in this chapter, as apposed to 13 or so blessings. It looks like God is trying to motivate Israel to obey.

What we miss in reading these blessings and cursing’s is that it refers to a people God had called His own. They don’t cease to be His own because they disobey, they just get punished for not obeying. Like when a parent warns their child and the child disobeys. The child gets punished; they don’t loose their relation.

The same kind of thing can happen to each of us and/or the church. As Israel was God’s witness on the earth so is the church that witness today. If we fail to witness in word and deed we bring on ourselves the troubles want to avoid. At the same time it is as we seek to be obedient that we will all experience His blessings.

Obedience involves recognizing and accepting God’s right to tell me what to do.

Yes, Deuteronomy 28:49-57 probably is a reference to Babylon.That would make 28:64-68 a reference to the Roman Empire, 70 AD.

Deuteronomio 28:15 (15-68) “Pero sucederá que si no obedeces al Señor tu Dios, guardando todos sus mandamientos y estatutos que te ordeno hoy, vendrán sobre ti todas estas maldiciones y te alcanzarán:”

¿Cuál es su prioridad?

Hay más de 40 maldiciones en este capítulo, comparado con unos 13 bendiciones. Parece que Dios está tratando de motivar a Israel a obedecer.

Lo que no nos damos cuenta en la lectura de estas bendiciones y de maldecir es que se refiere a un pueblo que Dios había llamado Suyo. Ellos no dejan de ser Suyo porque desobedecen, sólo son castigados por no obedecer. Al igual que cuando un padre advierte a su hijo y el niño desobedece. El niño es castigado; no pierde su relación.

El mismo tipo de cosa puede pasar a cada uno de nosotros y / o la iglesia. Como Israel fue testigo de Dios en la tierra asimismo es la iglesia es ese testimonio hoy. Si faltamos en dar testimonio por palabra y obra traeremos a nosotros mismos los problemas que queremos evitar. Al mismo tiempo, es como buscamos ser obedientes que todos vamos a experimentar sus bendiciones.

Obediencia implica reconocer y aceptar el derecho de Dios para decirme qué hacer.

Sí, Deuteronomio 28:49-57, probablemente es una referencia a Babilonia. Eso haría a 28:64-68 una referencia a el imperio Romano, 70 AD.

Deuteronomy 28:1 (1-14) “Now it shall be, if you diligently obey the Lord your God, being careful to do all His commandments which I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth.”

What is your priority?

Everything a people, a nation could want, Israel was poised to get. Political power, 28:3; economic stability, 28:4-5; social acceptability, 28:6; military power, 28:7; and more, Israel was going to be the leader of nations, 28:13. All they had to do was to simply obey the Lord their God.

These, I believe, are laws that govern the affairs of men. And any one man or nation, who followed this law would benefit from it. And any one man or nation that committed itself to it then failed to keep it while pretending to keep it, would suffer it’s curse as well. I know we aren’t Israel but through the years we have experienced much of what Israel should have.

Here in the USA we have been benefiting from the obedience of most of our forefathers for a long time. But in the last fifty years we’ve begun to see the effects of the curses because we have turned away from God. And it will get worse. So, one command at a time we need to get this country back to where it could be. A witness to the favor of God.

Deuteronomio 28:1 (1-14) “Y sucederá que si obedeces diligentemente al Señor tu Dios, cuidando de cumplir todos sus mandamientos que yo te mando hoy, el Señor tu Dios te pondrá en alto sobre todas las naciones de la tierra.”

¿Cuál es su prioridad?

Todo que un pueblo, una nación pueda desear, Israel estaba a punto de recibir. El poder político, 28:3; estabilidad económica, 28:4-5; aceptabilidad social, 28:6; el poder militar, 28:7; y más, Israel iba a ser el líder de las naciones, 28:13. Todo lo que tenían que hacer era simplemente obedecer al Señor su Dios.

Estos son, en mi opinión, las leyes que rigen los asuntos de los hombres. Y todo aquel hombre o nación, que siguió esta ley se beneficiarían de ella. Y ningún hombre o nación que se comprometió y entonces falto en mantenerlo mientras pretende mantenerlo, sufriría esas maldición también. Yo sé que no somos Israel, sino a través de los años hemos experimentado mucho de lo que Israel debería.

Aquí en los EE.UU. hemos estado beneficiando de la obediencia de la mayor parte de nuestros antepasados desde hace mucho tiempo. Pero en los últimos cincuenta años hemos empezado a ver los efectos de las maldiciones porque nos hemos alejado de Dios. Y se pondrá peor. Por lo tanto, un mandamiento a la vez tenemos que regresar a este país de nuevo a donde podría estar. Un testimonio de la gracia de Dios.

Valentía consiste en tomar una posición sobre la palabra de Dios a pesar de la oposición.
