Deuteronomy 22:11 “You shall not wear a material mixed of wool and linen together.”
What are you wearing?
In Revelation 19:8 we are told that linen is related to the righteousness of the saints. So, again the probability is that it referred to the idolatrous practices of the Canaanites. Israel was to avoid those practices. There is nothing wrong with wool or linen. Each was used in the construction of the Tabernacle but separately, not mixed.
I have heard of studies showing that a mixture of wool and linen can actually have a physical effect on your strength. But in pagan worship there was apparently something magical about the mixture. Remember that pagan worship is full of things you have to do to gain, merit or purchase the favor of the gods they believed in. Jehovah was not and still is not that way. God offers to reconnect you to Him into a relationship where He is the Father and we His children. We follow His direction and no one else’s.
These commands were given during the Dispensation of Law. The imagery was important to the people of Israel as a way to maintain purity in the presence of God. We are no longer under Law but Grace but the importance of remaining pure while we are still in this world is critical to our testimony.
Wisdom involves understanding our lives from God’s perspective.
