2 Kings 15:5 (1-7) “The Lord struck the king, so that he was a leper to the day of his death.”
Who is responsible for your success?
As the story goes, in 2 Chronicles 26, Uzziah (Azariah of Judah) started out well, 26:1-16. He learned how to use his resources and became well known for it. He depended on the Lord for his success, yet didn’t lead the people to follow God completely.
But, as he went along he allowed himself to be distracted by that success, wealth and might. He apparently let his fame go to his head and believing he was special ignored the way God did things for his own, 26:17-21.
When we allow ourselves to be distracted by the accolades that belong to God, assuming they belong to us we can make some terrible mistakes. Some mistakes we make in private can stay that way, but when we make them in public you reap what you sow in public.
That would never happen to me, right?!
Humility involves redirecting the credit for my successes to the God and His agents who made them possible.
