Ruth 3:18 (10-18) “Then she said, “Wait, my daughter, until you know how the matter turns out; for the man will not rest until he has settled it today.”
How much time do you give God?
According to Levirate law what Ruth did was her responsibility, Deuteronomy 25:5-10. The woman left without a husband was to go to the next of kin and require that he marry her. If he didn’t the responsibility went on to the next of kin. Yes, she could possibly, yet improbably end up marrying a bunch of men, Jesus answered the problem many years ago, Matthew 22:23-33.
Proverbs tell us that, “The wise woman builds her house, but the foolish tears it down with her own hands.” (Proverbs 14:1) That person is the one that can’t let God do things His way and in His time. Ruth took the initiative in the sense that she patiently followed her mother in laws instruction.
When making important decisions, what you should or shouldn’t do, may I suggest that you list the pros and cons? That is the why you should or shouldn’t. For Ruth the first list was why she should wait. Then why she shouldn’t wait. By the time you’ve balanced the list, what ever it was will be ready for you.
Patience involves giving God the same amount of time you would like to fulfill a commitment.
