1 Kings 15:14 (1-34) “But the high places were not taken away; nevertheless the heart of Asa was wholly devoted to the LORD all his days.”
What defines your testimony?
During these times of good and bad kings in both Israel and Judah there seemed to always be a testimony for God somewhere. One good king who would bring the people back to God.
Asa was one of those kings, of Judah (the southern tribes). The story tells us that his heart was totally devoted to the Lord all the days of his life, like his father David. And, like in the case of David this didn’t mean he was sinless, 15:5.
What made David different from all the other kings of the history of mankind was, that for him, there was only one God and no other. So he never compromised (made concessions) in any way when it came to whom he would seek counsel from. It is that spirit of compromise that should keep us from giving any of the gods of this world today any of the high places (centers of worship) of our lives. And, this uncompromising spirit is the only thing that defines our testimony in this world today, tomorrow and in the future.
Wisdom involves recognizing a cause and effect relationship in life and doing something with it.
