Ezra 5:2 (1-17) “then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and Jeshua the son of Jozadak arose and began to rebuild the house of God which is in Jerusalem;”
Whose approval do you need?
I thought it was interesting that the leadership, in the previous chapter was so willing to give up the project of rebuilding the temple and city walls but now when the prophet of God speaks, they are so motivated to continue the project.
When I get the opportunity to preach in my church I wonder if I made any difference. I know that the Lord is my reward, but I can’t help but look or wait expectantly for some sort of response. Sometimes I see it in the faces of those I’m speaking to while I speak. Yet, it is always gratifying when you get that palpable response, the well done.
This is what we see here in this account. The prophets got up and spoke, 5:1. They preached the words of God to the people and got the best response any preacher could ever hope to get. The leadership was moved to action, 5:2. Wow!
But there will always be those who reject the clear presentation of God’s word, 5:3.
Enthusiasm involves discovering how your life can motivate others to praise God and change.
